Library Borrowing Privileges for Alumni
PGSP alums may use our Library to borrow books, journals, videos, and psychological testing materials. Books are renewable for an additional two weeks. Contact our circulation desk staff at (650) 421-4808 for renewal requests. Alumni may search the PGSP online catalog in the library or at home through the PGSP Library Web site. The PGSP Journals Page has a complete listing of our digital and print journals.
Searching Databases:
Alumni may, with the assistance of a librarian, search library databases when they visit the PGSP Library. Please email our Reference Librarian, Scott Hines or call (650) 421-4855, if you require remote access to our databases. Scott will need to know your full name and the year you graduated to verify your status.
How to Obtain a Library Card:
PGSP alumni may register for borrowing privileges at the Research Library circulation desk by presenting a picture ID card (e.g., driver's license). Check our Library hours before stopping by.
- Alumni members must register in-person and agree to comply with all library regulations
- If your library card is lost or stolen, you must notify the library immediately. You will be held responsible for any materials checked out with that card before its loss is reported
- Do not give your library card to others for checking out library materials
The PGSP Research Library is not open to the general public.
Visitors may search the PGSP online catalog at home through the PGSP Library Web site. You may contact your local public Library to request PGSP books, dissertations, and journals articles through InterLibrary Loan.
Local mental health professionals who are interested in borrowing books from the PGSP Research Library are welcome to join Friends of the Library. Remote access to our electronic databases and Ask a Librarian and InterLibrary Loan services are only available to current PGSP students, faculty, and staff.

Local mental health professionals who are interested in borrowing books and journals from the PGSP Research Library are welcome to join the Friends of the Library. Friends of the Library may search library databases when they visit the PGSP Library by presenting a valid Friends of the Library card and a picture ID to any Library staff member. Please note that Friends of the Library may not borrow videotapes, DVD’s, or testing materials. The Friends of the Library annual membership is $50.00. Membership forms are available at the Research Library circulation desk. The application procedure must be repeated annually to renew library privileges. Do not give your ID card to others for checking out library materials. If your ID card is lost or stolen, you must notify the library immediately. You will be held responsible for any materials checked out with your card before its loss is reported.
All patrons must present a valid ID and library card to check out materials. Library policies and procedures for circulation are determined according to patron type, the format of the material, the location of the material, and whether it has been recalled.
