The PGSP-AIGLÉ Program

When does it happen?

The Program starts in September 2008. Students cannot enter the program until the next year once classes have started.

Where does it happen?

The program takes place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, during the first and third year and in Palo Alto, USA, during the second year.

In what language is the Program taught?

The first and third years are taught in Spanish except for seminars by PGSP professors, which are in English. The second year is taught in English.

Why do this?

The program provides state-of-the-art knowledge of where clinical psychology is today and the tools to reach levels of excellence within the profession.

There is also a growing need of cross-cultural and international education and training and at the same time practical applications need to be adapted to local contexts.

For students from Latin America, there is a growing need to earn a graduate degree for a number of reasons. First, there have been changes to undergraduate programs so that students now receive a more general education in psychology. This means that they need to specialize in a selected area and receive advanced training after obtaining their basic degree.

Secondly, although psychologists do not need a graduate degree in order to practice, a graduate degree has become a condition to apply for senior academic positions and an important qualification when competing for public and private professional positions.

Another central reason is that if you are able to do well in the program, you will be able to transfer those units into the Ph.D.
