PGSP offers the PhD in clinical psychology, as well as a PsyD initiated in 2002 in collaboration with the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University Medical School. The PhD program is accredited by the American Psychological Association. The PsyD program, entitled the PGSP-Stanford Psy.D. Consortium, was accredited by APA in 2006. PGSP also offers an MS in psychology via distance learning and an undergraduate bachelor's degree in psychology. The doctoral programs in clinical psychology trains professional psychologists whose practices of intervention, assessment, and consultation are informed by research, and who develop and carry out research that enhances their clinical effectiveness.
PGSP has graduated over 700 doctoral students who are now working in clinical practice, research, administration, and other related fields.
The PGSP program is directed by Dr. William J. Froming, the Vice-President for Academic Affairs. Dr. Froming received his PhD in personality psychology from the U of Texas-Austin. He taught for 10 years at the U of Florida and has been at PGSP for almost 20 years. He now oversees all of the academic programs at PGSP.
The PGSP faculty are mostly full-time faculty who teach the same classes online as on campus. Most are clinical psychologists who combine their clinical interests with an active research program.
